Julia Piker is an award-winning Ukrainian-American composer, songwriter, and producer whose work spans television, film, and visual media. Known for her ability to craft evocative, immersive soundscapes, she seamlessly blends voice and instrumentation to create rich, organic textures. Her signature style merges electronic and acoustic elements, allowing her to shape deeply emotional and atmospheric scores that elevate storytelling. She is best known for her score for Penelope, a Duplass Brothers Production, where her innovative approach to sound design and composition brings a unique sonic identity to the project. Her work effortlessly bridges the gap between the experimental and the cinematic, making her a sought-after composer in the industry.
Her work can also be heard in FX’s Murder at the End of the World, starring Clive Owen and Brit Marling, Amazon’s Outer Range, produced by Amazon Studios, and Hulu’s Unbanned: The Legend of AJ1, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2019. Recently, Julia received praise from The Newport Film Festival for her score for D’Marie Productions’ Copyright Infringement.
Additional credits include Netflix’s Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?, produced by Boardwalk Pictures, and Hulu’s The Curse of Von Dutch: A Brand to Die For. A longtime collaborator with Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans, she has contributed music to critically acclaimed projects such as Netflix’s Ozark and Paramount+’s Tulsa King. She has also written numerous songs for television and film, with credits including Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Big City Adventure, The Loud House Movie, Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks, and Monster High.
Julia’s distinctive style is shaped by her lush vocal textures and pop songwriting sensibilities. In 2021, she released her debut score EP, Samovar, on all digital platforms, following her first solo EP, Biting Biding (2017), which led to a sync placement in the UFC documentary Origins of the Octagon, from the creators of Netflix’s The Last Dance.
Rooted in a deep musical lineage, Julia traces her artistic foundation to her grandfather, a musician in the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra. Before fully transitioning to scoring, she worked as a staff composer at Pulse Music in New York City, creating music for major brands such as AT&T, Charmin, BMW, IBM, Wendy’s, Hinge, Cox, Adobe, Vanity Fair, and Lexus. Her score for Procter & Gamble’s The Talk won a London International Award for Original Music.
A self-taught composer, Julia embraces the philosophy that music has no rules. She currently resides in NYC.
